Raleigh wedding photographer | NC wedding photography

Michelle Gunton Photography, wedding photographer in Raleigh, NC  has again been nationally recognized by the AGWPJA.( The Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association.) The judges comments were "Very funny image and nice toning. I think that as strong as this image is, it would be even stronger if there were a tighter crop. The left side of the image is really not needed and distracts from this wonderful caught moment. " The reason that I chose not to crop in on the picture was b/c with a tighter crop you would  not know that the photo was from a mirror, not straight on. Yes, as a creative photographer when I snapped the photo I really wish I had the other bridesmaids face in the picture but I wanted the moment and I was afraid it wouldn't last long enough. My split decision still paid off in the end.

There are soooo many Raleigh Wedding photographers in NC, so why hire me? You should hire me for my creativity and ability to think out of the box. I go above and beyond what your being charged. You have a chance of having a nationally recognized wedding photo.  Another thing to consider is my photography studio is built onto my house so I am able to keep my cost lower than another high end wedding photographer who might be paying rent for their space. I am also able to keep my wedding package cost down because I do not out source my albums nor do I out source the processing of my images. If a photographer has these added cost they have to basically raise their prices to cover this cost. I dont know how many times I have heard " Michelle you need to raise your prices, your worth more than you are charging."  It makes me feel good to hear this from photographer's who are charging 4000.00-6000.00 for services.  You are getting a GREAT deal when you hire me as your wedding photographer.

Grand Marquise Ballroom bridal portraits

I was so excited that Torri wanted to have her bridal portraits photographed at the Grand Marquise Ballroom. Having bridal pictures done before the day of the wedding allows the bride the opportunity to know how long it will take to get into the wedding dress, to make sure the wedding hairstyle she has chosen is perfect with her dress, and what girl doesn't want to get all dolled  up in a gown she is only going to wear once.

It was my first time at the Grand Marquise Ballroom and definitely a place I want to photograph again. Torri and I actually met after she booked with another wedding photographer so we were both sad, but at least I had the opportunity to photograph her maternity, newborn, and bridal photos.

Wedding at McGregor Downs CC in Cary NC

Michael and Kathy's wedding took place at the beautiful venue McGregor Downs Country Club in Cary, NC.  I still have to do a blog post on Kathy's bridal pictures but I honestly could not wait to show this great wedding. I have photographed a lot of weddings this year and I must say this one is by far the funnest one I have been to. I arrived with the girls sitting around about to start getting in their bridesmaids dresses. Once I got a few photos of the getting ready I met up with the guys to get their formal pictures before the ceremony. I must say it was at this moment I realized that this was a FUN laid back group. The guys could not keep a straight face, they continued to goof off. They tried with a serious face to  apologize for their behavior but I immediately said no dont apologize, as a photographer I prefer the real moments, and man did they give it.  A traditional wedding photographer may have waited till they settled down to snap the picture but a true photojournalist wedding photographer captures true emotions and moments as they happen.

McGregor Downs property is really beautiful and I love photographing at the venue. The new wedding cordinator is Maceda whom I thouroughly enjoyed working with. What I loved also about this wedding was the bride and groom added white fabric and chocolate chandeliers hanging from the tent that covered the guest during the ceremony. It gave it more of a classy elegance feel. Wedding DJ Mike Morse was rocking the house. I am always happy when my clients go with my referrals. I really love the picture of the bridesmaids dancing in front of the DJ booth, I chose not to use the flash so you could really feel the vibe of the room and how dark it was in there. Cant wait till our next wedding in October Mike.

I am soo happy Michael and Kathy chose me as their wedding photographer, their wedding has officially made it to my website Raleigh wedding photographer

Raleigh wedding Photographer NC

I love being a wedding photographer in Raleigh,NC.  Weddings are happy, joyous events that bring out the best in emotions and reactions in people (which makes them a photographer's playground). Any photographer that photographs a wedding should have this outlook, since it directly affects their performance and presence.

The wedding photography of Amanda and Scott took place in Raleigh, NC. Amanda wanted artistic wedding photos with a PJ style(photojournalistic style of capturing unscripted reactions from family and friends  from a distance. This is a great approach to getting great authentic moments.) Speaking of moments I think you are really going to enjoy some of the photos taken during the wedding reception. Amanda and Scott are a good looking couple so needless to say I was happy to be their wedding photographer.

View their engagement photos . Engagement photography is a low-pressure chance for the wedding photographer to have fun and experiment. I try to find the intimate side of the couple, making the pictures unique to the engaged couple. A professional engagement photography session also permits the photographer and couple to establish a relationship and this leads to better wedding photography during the actual wedding day. I will be posting Amanda's bridal pictures soon.

For Raleigh wedding photographer, NC wedding photography, Raleigh wedding photojournalism, to reserve date and ask any questions concerning my services please contact me. I am a Raleigh NC wedding photographer  and proud of it.

Wedding Reception Venue in Cary NC

The Matthew's House in Cary, NC is a beautiful wedding reception venue. The venue is also one of the best wedding caterers in town. You dont have to book your wedding there to get the great food of Chef Richard, they will travel anywhere local. When considering a wedding hall keep this in mind about the Matthew's House. They can host both indoor and outdoor weddings. That in my opinion is a great plus. The reception hall is big and open with beautiful chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. I could go on and on about this site, but just know I LOVE IT!!!

Now onto Jill and Keith's wedding. Jill and I did everything over the phone and by email. So I was excited to meet them both on wedding day. Case in point, the ceremony was to take place outdoors however the weather did not want to cooperate that day so the decision was made to move it inside the reception hall. Greg with Brides and Bouquets was the florist. I also love, love his floral arrangements.

I was very happy to be the photographer for this wedding in NC and hope you enjoy the photographs. This was a very short intimate wedding.

Raleigh wedding | River Ridge Golf Club Venue

River Ridge Golf clubis a beautiful wedding venue in Raleigh,NC.  When I arrived at the venue I immediately went to the reception tent to check out the best place for my lighting. I fell in love with her blue and yellow decor right away. When done with that I went to the brides room where I was greeted with a big smile. Honestly that's what really makes my day at weddings, to walk into a bridal room and the excitement on a brides face that I'm there, definitely warm fuzzies. Faith got into her dress and we headed outside to do all the formals, bridesmaids, groomsmen, etc etc. One thing really special about this wedding is Faith made ALL her details, from the bouquet of flowers, girls necklaces, bows, flowers in jars hanging on the aisle of chairs of the wedding, etc it was all done with love by her and her friends.

Faith wanted really fun type photos. Her yellow sun glasses for the girls and the guys yellow socks, really added to that . Yes we did the traditional type posing but we also threw in some fun jumping shots and a request by the bridal party was to have the girls wear the jackets and the guys hold the flowers. I loved every minute of it. As I went through and worked on the photos I laughed out loud several times. Jumping in the air type photos is not for everyone but for this bridal party it was, they will love and laugh from the wedding photos a long time to come.

The weather turned bad on us after dinner that was catered by Cannon Catering. Thunder, lightning, and a whole lot of rain. Standing in a puddle of water while trying to capture the shot was definitely scary, but I took one for the team. We finally moved the party inside the building where everyone danced the night away. The funniest part of the whole day was when the bride and groom left, one of the guys hot wired their car so that every time Phil pressed on the break the horn would sound. Oh my goodness you talk about funny, now that's when you need video b/c pictures can't make sounds, lol.
