Raleigh wedding photographer is nationally recognized

The AG| WPJA  just recently announced the 1st quarter image competition results and Raleigh Wedding Photographer Michelle Gunton Photography is nationally recognized in the ceremony category. I am honored to be recognized on such a high level. Over thousands of entries are submitted from all over the world. You can imagine the happiness I felt to be flipping through all the winning wedding images and see mine pop up on the screen, it placed 12th in the ceremony category. They got it, and saw what I saw. I'm so over joyed. I love being a wedding photographer.

As written from the AGWPJA WEBSITE "The Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association is a distinct division within the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). The AG|WPJA focuses strictly on the artistic and "fine art" aspects of wedding photojournalism."

"AG|WPJA members are international wedding photojournalists, who excel both in creating outstanding images through a documentary approach, and in the art of post-production processing of wedding photographs. In a nutshell, AG|WPJA photographers take great candid pictures, enhance them using the technology available, and deliver museum-quality images from your wedding day."

Judges Comment: This image is all about the little boy. The look on his face is fantastic and there is great light and very nice use of composition.

Photography Family | A day in the Life | Raleigh NC

This family photography was done in their home in Raleigh, NC.  About a year and half ago I photographed the children in my studio at which time the parents suggested me doing a day in the life photography session when Yulia's parents flew in from the Ukraine.  Even though I'm a photographer I'm still a kid at heart and it was a great idea to come get pictures of the girls getting ready, then off to a park, Chuck E-cheese, etc. However when I arrived I found out things had changed and we were doing all the pictures at the house.  Yes I was a little bummed, but you know what, once I got into shooting I was excited to photograph the girls icing cupcakes, eating snow cones, running around playing with bubbles, playing in the bath tub with their mom . Some of the best photojournalist pictures I cant show to respect the privacy of the children.

I hope you enjoy the day in the life photos.

Bridal Raleigh

Bridals in Raleigh, NC taken at the Rose Garden.  The roses at the garden were in full bloom and were stunning. I love the softness of these bridal pictures, it fits Keely's sweet personality. The bride is wearing her mom's veil, isn't it just gorgeous? The first picture is such a sweet moment between mom and daughter. I cant wait to photograph their October wedding in Greensboro, NC.

Barclay Villa | A castle wedding venue | NC

Barclay Villa in Angier, NC is a beautiful castle wedding venue. Barclay Villa is a great  venue to host your outside or inside wedding as well as your reception. So here's a little back story on how I came to photograph Lauren and Brian's wedding. The Landmark in Garner was having their open house event for brides to tour and asked me if I would come set a booth up to show my work. Well that night I met Lauren, her mom, and Ayoka aka "Yokie"(Funny story I'll get to that  later). I arrived on wedding day and walked into the brides room and introduced myself to Lauren feeling a bit confused, haha I had only met her once and when I met her she had very very short hair. She said we met at the Landmark and I have long hair now. She proceeded to tell me that they actually knew I was going to be their wedding photographer and didn't know I was going to be there that night, now talk about faith. Now about Ayoka, lauren's sister, who I met 2yrs ago when I was the wedding photographer for her friend Lindsay Morse, now my good friend. Ayoka does GREAT WORK! I loved loved all the girls make-up for her sister's wedding. The funny thing is throughout the whole day I called her "Yokie" it wasn't on purpose at first but after I saw her giggle after I said her name I asked if I said it right she said no and we both laughed cause I had used it all day, so it stuck with us the rest of the night. "Yokie" was such a great support to me by helping with some special night shots. She held the little light for me and man I love love how those photos turned out.

This couple really allowed me to do my own thing. They had been a fan quite sometime so they didn't feel the need to bombard me with a long must have list, cause most of you know I don't like lists. Yep I said it. What I can say is that you can ask any of my past brides and they will tell you we will have a conversation about those must haves of family members. Photographs that are a given for most any wedding photographer is anything you paid for ex: flowers, cake, bouquet, table tops, venue, rings. The food I find is not always a given b/c the guest might mess it up before I get to it. You will see on my site Raleigh wedding photographer that there arent any formal family pictures. That's just a given that I do at every wedding and I want my site more about the moments captured then everybody lined up for a family picture. So thank you Lauren for letting me rock it in NC.
